The defending Idaho big school state champion Trojans surged to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter and kept the Thunder at bay in the semifinals of the Archbishop Murphy High School Christmas Holiday Tournament in Everett.

“It was a good effort by us,” Mountain View coach Matt Clark said. “They graduated a couple of kids, but they’re still pretty solid. I was proud of our girls. Things to get better at and things to learn, but progress was made. We made it a game almost to the end.”

Shayna Allert scored 15 points for Post Falls, the only Trojan to reach double figures. Clark said the game was good preparation for facing the likes of Prairie during the season.

Hailey Hartney led Mountain View (3-5) with 10 points. Emilly Moore scored nine points, Jenna Guilliford eight and Christina Lundy seven.

The Thunder will play Anacortes at 12:30 p.m. Saturday for third place.
