The Woodland girls basketball team made the long trip to White Salmon well worth it for coach Glen Flanagan.

Madison Sorenson had 19 points and nine rebounds, and Jessica Flanagan made five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points as the Beavers beat White Salmon 54-41 on Friday, giving Glen Flanagan his 300th coaching victory.

Sidra Malik had seven steals and five assists. Kendall Grell finished with seven points, four steals, four rebounds, and three assists.

Glen Flanagan is 300-97 as a high school basketball coach — all with Woodland.

“Yeah, it’s pretty cool,” he said.

Flanagan took over the program prior to the 1997-98 season. Since then, he has led the Beavers to eight appearances in the state’s final 16.

The coach tried to keep it on the down-low.

“I didn’t want the players to know. I mentioned it to my daughter. Then one of the other girls overheard. Then another girl tweeted it. Then they cheered.”

Jessica Flanagan was born a month after her father’s first season at Woodland ended.

“It’s been a whirlwind,” Glen Flanagan said.
