Bowen helps lead Clark women past Wenatchee Valley

Brooke Bowen scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds as the Clark College women’s basketball team defeated Wenatchee Valley 74-64 in the first round of the Clark Crossover Tournament at the O’Connell Center on Friday.

Clark (6-2) will play Peninsula at 7 p.m. today in the semifinals.

Bowen, a Skyview High grad, made 8 of 19 shots and also had five steals and two assists.

Nicolette Bond, a Battle Ground grad, had 15 points and seven rebounds for Clark, Haley Grossman, also from Battle Ground, had 14 points, and SirRenahdi Battle had 10 points.

Peninsula defeated Mt. Hood 67-59.

Blue Mountain advanced to the semifinals with a 72-63 win over Centralia. Fort Vancouver grad Mar’Shay Moore scored 17 points for Blue Mountain. Union grad Kendra Preuninger had nine points for Centralia.

Blue Mountain will face Clackamas at 5 p.m. today. Clackamas defeated Edmonds 103-54.

The eight-team tournament runs through Sunday with the championship at 4 p.m.
