Vancouver-based Prestige Senior Living has expanded its West Coast presence by landing a contract to manage eight Oregon senior living communities, which are now part of its portfolio of 80 facilities.
The new assisted care and memory care centers are owned by CNL Healthcare Properties based in Orlando, Fla. Of the eight Oregon locations, two are in Salem. The rest are in Tualatin, Bend, Medford, Gresham, Tillamook and Beaverton. CNL acquired them in a deal that also included four Montana and Nevada locations.
“CNL purchased 12 communities and we’re taking over management of eight,” said Hollie Fowler, a Prestige spokeswoman. She said it’s a typical arrangement for the company, which she said has built a good reputation for its operations in seven western states.

In Clark County, Prestige oversees Expressions Memory Care at Discovery Nursing & Rehab in Hazel Dell, Mallard Landing Assisted Living center in Battle Ground, Prestige Assisted Living in Hazel Dell and Prestige Care and Rehabilitation in Camas. The rest of its 80 centers are in California, Nevada, Idaho, Alaska, Montana and Arizona.
They include senior-living communities, independent living, assisted living, memory care and nursing and rehabilitation programs.
“A little over 50 percent of those are owned by a third party that contracts with us to run them,” Fowler said. Prestige owns the rest.
Prestige Senior Living, a division of Prestige Care Inc., employs approximately 5,000 people and operates from a 110-employee Vancouver headquarters in the Parkway Plaza IV office building at 7700 N.E. Parkway Drive. Fowler said the privately owned company does not share sales figures.
Prestige Care’s history of service dates to 1946, when Portland-area nurse Sarah Delamarter started caring for seniors in her home. She later purchased a large house in Wood Village, Ore., to operate as a senior-living facility. In 1985, her grandsons Harold and Rick Delamarter founded Prestige Care with their partner Greg Vislocky.
Fowler said the company’s mission is to provide quality care from the heart, a goal it brings to every facility it signs on to manage. “We have a passion for what we’re doing and we look for people who have the same passion,” Fowler said.
