A vehicle fire on state Highway 14 westbound didn’t result in any injuries on Tuesday morning, but it did disrupt traffic for the morning commute.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn reported at 7:45 a.m. that the fire had been extinguished and the driver and sole occupant, Jeremy Whitehead, 36, of Portland, was not injured.

About 7:09 a.m., a report came in that a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am was “fully involved” in flames on the highway near the Columbia House Boulevard exit.

Traffic began backing up shortly afterwards, with the right lane of traffic blocked on Highway 14. The State Patrol cleared the accident around 8 a.m., but traffic back-ups took some time to subside.

The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Twitter account reported backups to just west of Lieser Road and recommended drivers use alternate routes if possible.
