Drivers abandoned their vehicles in two Thursday morning crashes. One vehicle apparently plowed through a fence, and the other was found in a canyon, suspended between two trees.
The first accident happened near the BPA Ross Complex at Northeast Highway 99 and Ross Street. A pickup apparently went off the road and took out a fence, coming to rest on a bike path that parallels the road.
A passerby called in the crash at 7 a.m., and said that the pickup couldn’t be seen from the roadway. When Vancouver police arrived, nobody was in the vehicle and the engine was cold, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.
Police are not sure when the crash occurred.
A few hours later, at 10:51 a.m., a rollover was reported in La Center at Northwest Coyote Ridge Road and Northwest 21st Avenue. The car went off the roadway and rolled over an embankment, catching between two trees and the bank, according to Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy, spokesman for Clark County Fire & Rescue.
