Fishing report 12/12

Three local waters have been stocked with catchable-size rainbow trout in the past week.

Lacamas Lake got 4,800 trout, Battle Ground Lake got 4,000 and Klineline Pond received 1,900.

The steelhead in the Cowlitz River are being taken near the trout hatchery, while the coho are getting caught by bank anglers at the barrier dam.

The North Fork Lewis from Colvin Creek upstream to the overhead powerlines below Merwin Dam opens to fishing for chinook, hatchery coho, and hatchery steelhead on Monday.

Angler checks from the Washington (WDFW) and Oregon (ODFW) departments of Fish and Wildlife:

Mid-Columbia — John Day river backwater, nine boats with two steelhead kept and two wild steelhead released. (ODFW)

Cowlitz — Thirty boaters with 12 steelhead kept; 68 bank rods with seven adult coho, one jack coho and five steelhead kept plus one adult chinook released. (WDFW)

Kalama — Twenty-four bank rods with one jack coho and one steelhead kept plus one steelhead, six jack coho and one jack chinook released. (WDFW)

Lewis — Thirteen bank rods and three boaters with no catch. (WDFW)

North Fork Lewis — Thirteen boaters with three adult chinook kept and one adult coho released; 50 bank rods with four steelhead and one adult coho kept plus one steelhead and two adult coho released. (WDFW)

Washougal — Thirty-one bank rods with two steelhead kept; 27 boaters with nine steelhead kept plus three adult coho and six steelhead released. (WDFW)

Klickitat — One bank rod with no catch. (WDFW)
