The Southwest Clean Air Agency on Tuesday announced a countywide burn ban due to stagnant air and elevated levels of pollution.
The agency issued a Stage 2 ban, which means all outdoor burning and wood heating is prohibited. That includes certified wood stoves built more recently.
Homes that rely on wood burning as their only source of heat, however, are exempt from the ban, according to the agency.
Cold weather and stagnant air patterns are expected to last into Thursday, according to the agency, after which the ban could be lifted. This week’s restriction comes on the heels of another ban that stretched from late November to early December.
