A 14-year-old boy was riding his skateboard on a residential road Tuesday night when he was hit by a motorist who left the scene.
The boy was reportedly struck from behind by a blue minivan and knocked to the pavement, said Sgt. Fred Neiman, spokesman for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. The boy sustained minor injuries from the crash, which was reported at 9:57 p.m. at 3909 N.E. 52nd Ave. in the Minnehaha area.
The driver of the vehicle got out briefly, but then got back in and drove away. He was described as a man in his 30s with short, possibly balding hair.
The boy’s mother took him to a local hospital for treatment of road rash burns. His skateboard was also smashed in the collision.
No one got the license plate number, so police haven’t been able to track down the driver. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Deputy Rob Ternus at the sheriff’s office West Precinct, 360-397-6079.
