Portland police arrested a Vancouver man who allegedly abducted his 5-month-old son from Child Protective Services on Nov. 27.
Kasey R. McKernan, 31, was found near Northeast Sandy Boulevard and Northeast 112th Avenue. He was arrested on an outstanding Clark County warrant and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center, pending extradition to Clark County.
Jaxon Smith had been ordered into the custody of Washington Child Protective Services. When an agency social worker attempted to transfer custody on Nov. 27, Summer Smith and McKernan allegedly snatched the child and fled in a pickup. McKernan assaulted the social worker in order to flee with the child, Vancouver police said.
