The visitors from Portland started strong, but Evergreen finished stronger to earn the non-league victory.
Evergreen outscored Benson 41-26 in the second half.
Jahmil Johnson scored all 11 points for Evergreen in the third quarter. Greg Washington helped lead the way with five assists in the fourth quarter.
Evergreen coach Brian Witherspoon said his defense stepped it up in the third quarter and that carried the team into a big fourth quarter.
“The defense started it,” he said. “Led to a lot of fast breaks.”
Johnson finished with 14 points, Robert Franks had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Jordan Henderson had nine points and seven rebounds.
