Clark County — Two photographic treasuries of Clark County history have just been released by Arcadia Publishing. Local historian Pat Jollota’s latest, “Vanishing Vancouver,” starts out in the 1850s and includes more than 200 images of the evolving city with its schools, churches, military base, hospital, shipyards, businesses and neighborhoods. “Vanishing Vancouver” is published via Arcadia’s “Images of America” series. Camas-Washougal Historical Society volunteer and newsletter editor Rene Johnston Carroll has written “Legendary Locals of Camas and Washougal,” which includes some historical scenes but focuses largely on the people who made that history happen — from Fern Prairie settler Lewis Van Fleet all the way to race car driver Greg Biffle, a Camas native.
