A local sex offender was recently registered as homeless in the Vancouver area, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Donald T. McCarthy, 72, is a level 3 sex offender, considered the most likely to re-offend. In 1993, he was convicted of first-degree sex abuse in Multnomah County, Ore. Court documents say that he came up behind boys at a video arcade and talked to them while rubbing his genitals on their buttocks.

In 2002, he pled guilty to third-degree assault with sexual motivation for rubbing up against a woman in a bookstore. The victim did not know McCarthy and has Down syndrome.

McCarthy is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall and 180 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. He’s known to drive a 1994 Mazda with Washington license plates ANM6067.

The sheriff’s office Sex Offender Registration Unit and the Vancouver Police Sex Offender Tracking Unit will monitor McCarthy. He is not wanted by police at this time.
