The Heritage Timberwolves are winners on the girls basketball court.
That could not be said at any time last year.
“The girls are super excited. It was a long time coming,” Heritage coach Karrin Wilson said after the Timberwolves snapped their 22-game losing streak.
Ashley Edwards scored nine of her 18 points in the fourth quarter, and the Timberwolves rallied from a five-point halftime deficit.
“The girls stuck with it and got important stops when they needed to,” Wilson said. “They really needed that win. They’ve been working really hard, and they deserve it.”
Jocylen Knowles-Washington had a double-double for Heritage (1-1), with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Mesha Branch had three steals for the Timberwolves.
