Boys basketball: Hockinson 71, Fort Vancouver 59

Hockinson 71, Fort Vancouver 59 — Taylor Rennaker and AJ Haagen had 13 points each as Hockinson used a big fourth quarter to pull away from Fort.

Taylor Ellensohn added 12 points and Jack Klodt added 10 for Hockinson, which won its opener. The Hawks held slim leads after each of the first three quarter stops, including 46-43 going into the final period.

Tre Eisenhunt had 19 points and Will Doty pulled down 12 rebounds for Fort (0-2).

The game was tied at 51 with about six minutes remaining before the Hawks closed on a 20-8 run.

“It was definitely a game of runs,” Fort coach Scott Thompson said. He said the Hawks made their free throws in the fourth quarter to help maintain the lead and pull away for the win.
