It was a gorgeous Saturday around the great Northwest, clear skies and sunshine except low clouds and fog south of Seaside. Afternoon temperatures were in the upper 80s and I suspect a 90 here and there.
A bit cooler today, but still warm — into the 80s, perfect for a barbecue. The weather system I mentioned here a few days ago is stalled off the coast and not moving inland as models predicted. So the chance for much rainfall on Monday is lower and temperatures should be in the 70s. We still keep a chance for showers through Tuesday. The low will remain off the coast and migrate as one of those pesky upper level lows. Where she goes nobody knows, ha, ha.
As schoolchildren begin their return to the classroom this week, skies will clear somewhat and highs will be in the 75-80-degree range. As the low finally decides to move inland, we could get some rain or thunderstorms by the end of the week, but that is a ways out.
August will go in Vancouver’s record books as a fairly average month. The average mean temperature through Saturday afternoon was 70.1 degrees, about one degree above average. Precipitation totaled 0.85 of an inch, just about right. The biggest note was the warm nights we enjoyed (or endured).
