Portland State routs Eastern Oregon

Kieran McDonagh completed 7 of 11 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns as Portland State routed Eastern Oregon 57-17 in the season opener Thursday night at Jeld-Wen Field.

McDonagh threw touchdown passes of 17 yards to Kasey Closs and 80 yards to Roston Tatum as the Vikings built a 36-0 lead at halftime.

McDonagh, a Skyview graduate, also rushed for seven yards and did not play in the second half.

Union graduate Brandon Brody-Heim had five solo tackles, including one for loss, for Portland State.
