A new housing report issued Thursday showed all-cash sales of single-family homes increased across the nation and in Clark County for the month of July, accounting for about 40 percent of all transactions in the United States.

In Clark County, about 32 percent of all home sales were cash-only, up from 24 percent in the same month last year, according to RealtyTrac, which tracks home sales data across the nation.

Short sales — transactions in which the home sells for less than is owed on the mortgage — made up 21 percent of home sales countywide. Sales of bank-owned properties, called REOs, accounted for 8 percent of all Clark County home sales in July, the same percentage as the previous month and up from 6 percent of all sales in July 2012.
