PUYALLUP — Eleven women and one man are suing the city of Puyallup over jail video recording.

The News Tribune reports the twelve say they were inappropriately video recorded while undressing or using the toilet at the city jail after they were arrested for misdemeanor DUI.

The personal-injury lawsuit was filed Thursday in Pierce County Superior Court. They are seeking unspecified damages for civil rights violations and invasion of privacy.

Police Chief Bryan Jeter and Lt. Edward Shannon also are named as defendants.

Police Capt. Scott Engle says city officials have committed no wrongdoing. The city is defending the practice of video-recording inmates and DUI defendants.
