Hazel Dell — The Interstate 5 interchange at Northeast 78th Street has never received one whit of landscaping from the state transportation department. It was supposed to, but it didn’t, according to Vicki Fitzsimmons, a leader of both the Sherwood Neighborhood Association and the Hazel Dell-Salmon Creek Business Association. Fitzsimmons has discussed the problem with Clark County and Washington State Department of Transportation and gathered donations of cash and plantings; she just needs volunteer labor to get the job done during a work party tentatively set for Oct. 12. If you are interested, contact Fitzsimmons at 360-607-8965 or vicki.fitzsimmons@edwardjones.com.
