Clark College — Sophomore Luisa Cruz-Vasquez was named a 2013 Latinas Learning to Lead fellow by the National Hispana Leadership Institute. She’s one of 22 college students nationwide who went to The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., in late July for a week-long leadership-development program. The students were chosen based on community service and professional accomplishments. Cruz-Vazquez, 20, plans to transfer to Washington State University Vancouver to study political science, English and Spanish — with an ultimate goal of becoming a lawyer who fights for human rights. She volunteers with the YWCA Clark County and the Latino/a Educational Achievement Program.
