At-risk kids learn positivity at Camp Rosenbaum

WARRENTON, Ore. — Children from Vancouver and the region learned about living positive lives during a summer camp for at-risk youth at the Camp Rilea Armed Forces Training Center in Warrenton, Ore. The 9- to 11-year-old kids who visited Camp Rosenbaum from July 28 to Aug. 2 were taught — through activities and mentorship — to set goals for their future, stay off drugs, do well in school and keep away from gangs. The Oregon National Guard, Home Forward, Portland Police Bureau and other regional agencies hosted the annual Camp Rosenbaum. About 160 kids from Southwest Washington and Oregon visited the camp this year. “We do our best to set them up for success,” said camp director and Oregon Air National Guard Lt. Col. Sara Perkins in a press release. “We want our campers to know that good citizens are everywhere in their community.”
