Woodland police interrupted a Saturday night burglary and arrested the suspects the next day during separate traffic stops.
Saturday evening, officers went to the 300 block of Madrona Avenue in response to a report of a stolen cellphone that had been traced to the area. Police returned later in the evening, around 10:55 p.m., to follow up on the case. They were talking to the homeowner outside when they noticed a man inside the house, who then fled out he back. A second man was detained at the location and later released.
Woodland police, with assistance from Cowlitz County deputies, a Clark County K-9 unit, and Kalama and La Center police were not able to find the man who ran out of the house.
On Sunday, through further investigation, police arrested both suspects — the man who fled the house and the man who was detained — during separate traffic stops. Police also recovered a Hi-Point 9mm handgun.
