The National Weather Service is advising that more showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over much of Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon this afternoon and linger until early Sunday.
A round of showers and thunderstorms brought lightning and areas of heavy rain through the mountains of Oregon and Washington late Friday. More showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop in the Cascade Range this afternoon and evening.
Forecasters said upper level winds from the southeast mean that some of those storms could spread into the valleys of Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon later today and especially tonight.
There will likely be abundant dangerous and deadly lightning with these storms again, with areas of heavy rain, the NWS said.
Be sure to take cover should threatening weather approach, and be sure to seek higher ground should heavy rain occur near your area and not drive through any standing water.
