Report of Washougal home invasion unfounded

Police say a report of a 5-year-old Washougal girl who allegedly woke up to find a man in her bedroom early Tuesday morning was unfounded.

Washougal police were called to Gibbons Creek Mobile, 4501 Addy St., where the girl’s grandparents awoke to the young girl’s scream just before 5 a.m.

No one else saw the man, and police did not locate the man in the area.

After further interviewing of the girl, Cmdr. Allen Cook said, police determined the incident didn’t occur as described.

“We’re not quite sure how it originated,” Cook said. “We don’t want to say she made it up because it might have been a nightmare.”
