The yearlong Camas-Washougal weight-loss challenge will come to end Saturday.

The “Camas and Washougal on a Diet” campaign will wrap up this weekend with a 5K walk/run and weigh-ins for Camas Mayor Scott Higgins and Washougal Mayor Sean Guard.

The mayors agreed to take their weight-loss process public in May 2012 as part of healthy competition, drawing on the natural rivalry between the two towns.

This week, the mayors and residents of the cities will celebrate with several activities.

Here’s a schedule of the events:

  • Movie screening, “The Weight of the Nation, Part 4: Challenges” — 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 at LaCamas Swim & Sport health club, 2950 N.W. 38th Ave. in Camas.

  • “Kids Dash” — 6 p.m. Friday, May 3 on Fourth Avenue in downtown Camas. The “Kids Dash” and other activities will take place during Downtown Camas Association’s First Friday program.

  • “CincoK on the 4th of May” — 9 a.m. Saturday, May 4 at Pendleton Woolen Mills outlet, 2 Pendleton Way, in Washougal. All levels invited for a 5K run/walk.

  • Mayor weigh-in — The winner of the mayor challenge will be announced at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, after the 5K. Organizers will also announce the resident who lost the most weight.
