La Center has pushed back the date of a swearing-in ceremony for the city’s new police chief.
Mayor Jim Irish will administer an oath of office to Marc Denney at 7 p.m. June 12 at La Center City Hall, 214 E. Fourth St. The city has invited the public to attend the ceremony and meet Denney.
The city had announced Denney would be sworn in May 22 but changed the date because of unforseen circumstances, according to a press release.
Denney was chosen from a nationwide field of more than 50 applicants for the position. He previously worked for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona for 23 years and retired as a commander. He earned a master’s degree in public administration with a minor in justice administration from Wayland Baptist University.
