Prep roundup: Hockinson, Ridgefield sit atop 2A GSHL soccer

The Hockinson and Ridgefield boys soccer teams remained in a close battle atop the 2A Greater St. Helens League as both posted victories on Thursday.

Hockinson (10-3, 6-1) defeated Mark Morris 1-0 as Emmanuel Gil had an unassisted goal for the Hawks. Casey Turner made five saves in the shutout.

Ridgefield (10-3-1, 5-1) kept pace with a 5-1 win at Washougal.

Goal scorers for the Spudders were not reported.

The regular season concludes next week with both Ridgefield and Hockinson playing Mark Morris and R.A. Long.

Stars of the day

BASEBALL: Jared Price pitched a complete game, striking out six as Evergreen held off Union 2-1.

BOYS SOCCER: Erik Powell scored two goals and had an assist, Brennan McDaid-O’Neill had three goals, and John Polen a goal and four assists in Seton Catholic’s 7-1 win over King’s Way Christian.
