Of course, clear blue skies and sunshine appeared after the weekend but, hey, we will take it. Afternoon temperatures were in the mid-60s (the warmest since April 3) and will be in the low to mid-70s today through Thursday. On Wednesday, we’ll get some east winds.
I had one email from a reader saying that she forgot and didn’t heed my warning in Sunday’s column of possible frost on Monday morning. She lost her fuchsias in a basket on her deck. Overnight lows were in the 30s countywide — 35 degrees officially at Pearson Field, but the outlying areas had plenty of frost on rooftops and grass. One reader said he had to actually scrape ice off his windshield early Monday. This can still happen for the next couple of weeks for county residents.
In my neighborhood, there was patchy frost on the rooftops and I had a low of 32 degrees. My three pots of delicate annual flowers enjoyed a warm night inside.
With the clear skies, you could see the Cascade Mountains and the foothills where there is lots of white still down to some lower elevations. Snow on Silver Star? Yep, let that be your guide for any future frost episodes as mentioned here earlier.
