Vancouver Public Schools’ Sacajawea Elementary School was named a Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education on Monday. It’s one of only four Washington schools — the only in Clark County — to be recognized for its efforts in reducing energy use, promoting student health and providing environmental education.
The schools were nominated by the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and announced by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
Additionally, Vancouver was one of four districts in the state — the only district in Clark County — to be recognized as a Green School and District Leader.
