If you hadn’t caught wind of this, mark the calendar for Saturday, May 18 as college football is coming to Vancouver.
Portland State will be holding its spring game at McKenzie Stadium. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m.
Skyview High grad Kieran McDonagh returns for the Vikings at quarterback after a record freshman season in 2012.
Union High grad Brandon Brody-Heim, who was one of nine true freshmen to play for the Vikings in 2012, will be at linebacker and special teams.
Camas grad John Norcross, a freshman, is also among the linebacking corps.
A full day of activities at McKenzie Stadium begins with a free youth clinic at 11 a.m. (Go to www.goviks.com for a participation form.) That will be followed at noon by a PSU alumni flag football game.
Only from the world of soccer would you find this headline (courtesy of the Guardian): Luis Suarez praised by Liverpool manager for his ‘amazing appetite’.
This isn’t a first for the Argentine native, who has bitten opponents before. The latest incident was Sunday in an English Premier League match between Liverpool and Chelsea.
The referee didn’t see Suarez chomp down on Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic during the match, but the cameras did and so soon will the soccer-powers-that-be.
”Rafa, thank you for allowing me to win it once,” said Novak Djokovic to Rafael Nadal after winning the Monte Carlo Masters tennis event on Sunday.
Djokovic’s win ended a string of 46 consecutive Monte Carlo match wins and eight straight Monte Carlo titles for Nadal.
This event is one of the bigger French Open tune-ups, and it sure seems Djokovic is ready now to claim that elusive Grand Slam title.
