A single-car accident clogged northbound Interstate 5 traffic midafternoon Monday.

Around 2:30 p.m., a van heading north on I-5 was towing another van when the towed van began to whip from side to side and struck the jersey barrier around Mile Post 3, just north of the exit to state Highway 500, said Trooper Will Finn, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol. The rear axle of the towed van broke during the accident.

No one was hurt, but the accident blocked two northbound lanes of the interstate. Around 3:45 p.m., all lanes of travel were clear.

The driver, whose name was not released, was cited for allowing the van to whip, weave and oscillate.
