Service reminds residents when to put out the trash

The recently redesigned city of Vancouver website has a new service for residents who need help remembering which days to put out trash.

By entering their address, residents can view and print a calendar schedule showing garbage, recycling and optional yard debris collection services. Residents can also sign up to receive reminders via email, a phone call or private Twitter message.

The new services are at http://cityofvancouver.us/solidwaste.

There’s no additional cost for the reminders, according to a city news release. Sponsors of the online tool are the city, Clark County and Waste Connections Inc., which, according to the news release, “expect to reduce customer call volumes and improve customer service and response times.”

Waste Connections will continue to mail an annual schedule postcard and Recycling Refresher.

The Internet app covers the entire Clark County area and is expected to be available in the coming weeks on the Waste Connections and Clark County Environmental Services websites. An iPhone and Android app are expected to be available soon.
