The suspect in the Feb. 28 bomb threat at Battle Ground High School will undergo a mental evaluation by Western State Hospital to determine if he is competent to stand trial.
Clark County Superior Court Judge Scott Collier ordered the evaluation Friday at the request of suspect Luke M. Love’s attorney, Art Bennett.
The 18-year-old is accused of writing a bomb threat on a boys’ bathroom wall at the high school, prompting an all-day evacuation of the campus. Court records indicate Love has multiple disabilities and mental health issues, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder and major depression.
While a juvenile, he was convicted of two counts of fourth-degree assault against his father in 2010 and 2011, according to court documents.
