Prep roundup: Skyview pitching shuts down Evergreen

Austin Greene and Brooks Hanson combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter Monday, leading first-place Skyview to another Class 4A Greater St. Helens League victory.

Greene struck out nine in his four innings to get the win. Hanson punched out two batters in his inning of relief in a 10-0 victory over Evergreen.

Skyview improved to 7-1 in league play, a game ahead of Heritage.

While the pitching was superb, the Storm did not actually need much pitching after the first inning. Skyview scored eight runs to put this one away early.

Skyview added a run in the second and another in the fourth to end the game with the mercy rule in the fifth.Braydon Maney drove in two runs. He was 2 for 3 with a double. Brian Valentine went 1 for 1 with a double and also drove in two runs.

Stars of the day

BASEBALL: Mountain View’s JT Kaul allowed four hits and one run while striking out 10 in six innings to get the 10-2 win against Prairie. Offensively, Taylor Drey was 4 for 5 with a double and four RBI.

SOFTBALL: Ridgefield’s Shannon Boyle went 4 for 4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI in an 18-3 win at Hockinson.

BASEBALL: Javier Villanueva got the win and also drove in two runs, going 2 for 4 with a double, helping Heritage to a 7-4 win over Camas.

BASEBALL: Michael McCann of Columbia River continued his strong season, going 3 for 3 with three doubles and two RBI in a win over Hudson’s Bay.

BASEBALL: Battle Ground’s Hayden Humphrey went 2 for 2 including a triple and had two RBI to help the Tigers to Union 9-3.
