A collection event this month will invite Clark County residents to safely dispose of their unwanted medication.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Clark County Sheriff’s Office and other partners will collect unused drugs at two locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27. Residents can bring drugs either to Clark College’s Purple Parking Lot No. 1 (by the soccer field), 1900 Fort Vancouver Way, or to the Battle Ground Police Department, 507 S.W. First St.

Any unwanted medications will be accepted. Such items should not be flushed down the toilet or dumped in a drain, as they can cause environmental harm, according to authorities.

Last year’s collection events collected more than 900 pounds of unwanted medications, and more than 300 pounds of paper. All personal information on containers is blacked out for consumer safety, officials said.

More information about disposal or recycling options is available at Recycling A-Z.
