Brian Wright of the Columbia River boys soccer team was voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the weeks of March 25-April 6 in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Wright collected 47 percent of the 1,032 votes cast to beat out Columbia River track and field athlete Emily Morgan, who had 39 percent.
Wright had an assist in River’s 1-0 win over Mountain View, then had two goals and an assist in a win over Hudson’s Bay. The Chieftains opened the 3A GSHL season with two wins.
The other nominees were Alec Chaney of Skyview baseball, Micah Merfeld of Union track and field and Jamie Stilwell of Prairie golf.
