VPD commander graduates from FBI Academy

A commander with the Vancouver Police Department graduated from the FBI National Academy Program last month.

Cmdr. Michael Whitney, who oversees the East Precinct District 3, completed the 10-week course on March 22. The program, held at the FBI headquarters in Quantico, Va., included classes on advanced investigation, management and fitness training.

The mission of the program is to improve the administration of justice in police departments and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge and cooperation worldwide, according to the FBI website.
