EMS District 2 report says service level high

EMS District 2, which is run by Clark County, released its annual report Tuesday that says the district is providing a high level of clinical care while offering stringent response times at a low cost.

The district contracts with private ambulance company American Medical Response for services within the district — an area covering Vancouver, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, La Center, Woodland and outlying areas.

The 2012 annual report states the jurisdictions in the agreement are receiving the high level of service thanks to the entities working together.

The report is released each year as part of an agreement among the agencies, but also comes at a time when the city of Vancouver is considering withdrawing from the contract.

Vancouver city council has discussed a proposal where the city enters into its own contract with an ambulance company when the district’s contract with AMR expires in 2014.

The reason the move is being considered is for the city to have more control over its service.

There is no time scheduled for a vote on the matter.
