A little bit of Las Vegas is coming to Westlie Ford on Saturday, April 27.
That’s when the Camas Athletics Boosters Club will host its third-annual casino night and auction fundraiser.
Proceeds benefit sports programs at Camas High School, Liberty Middle School and Skyridge Middle School.
“We assist with items like new uniforms, wrestling mats, goal posts, ball machines, golf bags, high tech computer and video equipment,” said Wanda Miller, Booster board president. “We also offer $3,000 scholarships each year to two graduating seniors. Now that CHS is 4A school, we need to make sure our kids are properly supported to be highly competitive at that level.”
Last year, the Boosters raised more than $16,000 at the event. This year, the goal is $20,000.
“Casino night is an opportunity to get our club and information out into the community, letting everyone know how much we provide to our kids and at the same time to host an event where we get together for a fun evening, win prizes and create a great memory,” Miller said. “We are all very proud of our kids, and our schools, so this is that one night that we can come to together to show our Papermaker, Skyhawk and Lion pride.”
In addition to casino-style games such as poker and blackjack, there will also be silent and live auctions. Some of the items up for grabs include tickets to the sold-out Taylor Swift concert, stays at vacation/rental homes, hotel stay packages, Bowflex Equipment, guided fishing trips, local restaurant certificates, sporting event tickets, driving school instruction, wines, and family portrait packages.
“This year we will be auctioning off the first brick to be engraved and placed at Doc Harris Stadium,” Miller said. “This will jump start our Doc Harris brick campaign. We will also be updating our Facebook page (Camas Athletic Boosters), as we get closer to the event, with more details of items.”
The Boosters are still accepting donations of items and services for Casino Night, as well as table sponsors.
Those interested in donating or sponsoring may contact Miller at camasboosters@gmail.com or at 904-3001.

“It is a great way to spend the evening with your community,” Miller said. “We are all running in different directions this time of year, so it’s a perfect few hours to have some fun with friends. At the same time, you will be supporting our incredible student athletes in the Camas School District.”
