A cougar was killed after it tried to cross three lanes of Interstate 5 this morning and was struck by a southbound car in the Woodland area.
The cat was reportedly struck by a small passenger vehicle just north of Woodland about 7 a.m. and the “very angry” animal managed to get to the median of the roadway, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn.
After talking to officials at the Department of Fish and Wildlife, troopers shot and killed the animal.
“It appeared the animal had significant trauma and was suffering greatly,” Finn said. “Unfortunately, we had to put him down.”
