A Vancouver bicyclist died from injuries he sustained after he collided with a pedestrian in Northeast Hazel Dell last week.

Kyle A. Comeau, 24, was riding a bike west on Northeast 99th Street just after 6 p.m. on March 29, according to Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Neiman.

Witnesses said that Comeau rode through the intersection of Northeast 25th Avenue against a light and ran into a pedestrian who had stepped off the curb to cross the street, Neiman said.

Comeau then reportedly lost control and crashed onto the pavement, Neiman said. Witnesses told deputies that Comeau was not wearing a helmet.

Comeau was transported to an area hospital, but died two days later. The pedestrian was not injured.

The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation of the fatality.

A memorial service will be held for Comeau on April 13 at Crossroads Community Church, according to Facebook. He was a graduate of Columbia River High School.
