Skills Center students compete for state
After capturing regional titles, sixteen students from the Clark County Skills Center will compete in the State SkillsUSA competition next month in Renton, Wash. There, they will vie for state championships and trips to the national SkillsUSA this June in Kansas City, Mo.
The winners represent 12 schools in Clark County and three Skills Center programs: pre-engineering design, automotive technology and construction technology.
Regional Gold Medal winners were Skyview senior Mayra Gonzalez, creed; Columbia River Homelink senior Shane Allen, carpentry; Heritage senior Kevin Rothe, auto service; Skyview junior Slavg Klets, auto maintenance; and Camas senior Seth Albert, architectural drafting.
Owned and operated by all 10 southwest Washington school districts, the Skills Center provides technical and professional training programs to Clark County high school students.
