A cash mob to benefit Torque Coffee in downtown Vancouver will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, with the goal of helping the shop recover from Sunday’s armed robbery.
The customers who organized the event are encouraging people to stop by the shop, 507 Columbia St., for a cup of coffee, cocoa or snack.
Around 8 a.m. Sunday, an armed, masked man demanded money from the barista, took the till and her bag, and ordered her into a refrigeration unit where she called 911. She was unharmed, but Vancouver police were unable to locate the robbery suspect.
Torque, which celebrates its one-year anniversary April 13, is also the home base for The Mighty Bowl food truck. On Thursday, when the food truck parks there, $1 from every order will be donated to benefit the barista who was working at the time of the robbery.
