Vancouver — What’s life without clean socks and underwear?

Share, a leading Vancouver provider of services to the hungry and homeless, has launched its fifth annual “Operation Sole Mates” sock-and-underwear drive. All donated items will be distributed to clients of Share’s Outreach program, serving people living on the streets as well as clients in shelters. All sizes of socks and underwear, for men, women and children, are welcome.

“So often we see street homeless asking for spare change or food,” said Katherine Garrett, director of Share House and Share Outreach, “but we feel this is a much more productive way to raise awareness, help address their needs and, hopefully, move them into shelter.”

New athletic socks and underwear can be dropped off throughout October.

Bring them to the Share Volunteer Center, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 1708 Main St. in Vancouver; or to any of these shelters: Share House, 1115 W. 13th St.; Share Homestead, 4921 N.E. Hazel Dell Ave.; or Share Orchards Inn, 5609 N.E. 102nd Ave.
