The leading rusher in Clark County touched the ball three times on Friday at McKenzie Stadium. That turned out to be bad news for the Evergreen Plainsmen.
Battle Ground quarterback Ian Humphrey threw for 372 yards and six touchdowns as the Tigers beat the Plainsmen 40-6.
Kevin Haynes, who ran for almost 900 yards and 10 touchdowns over the first four games, carried only three times for 33 yards for Battle Ground (5-0, 1-0) in a 4A Greater St. Helens League opener.
With the Evergreen (2-3, 0-1) defense focused on slowing Haynes and the Battle Ground running game, Humphrey turned the game into his showcase.
