What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

We are near the end of the European players in the NBA.
Soon, they will go back home, never to return. Some will just go home voluntarily. Others, it appears will be forced to go.
Apparently, the NBA is about to crack down on floppers.
Which means no more guys who are too tall to play soccer will be able to excel in America in basketball. After all, we know the only way they can play defense in basketball is soccer-style flops.
“If you continue to do this, you may have to suffer some consequences,” NBA commish David Stern said.
We all knew David Stern was powerful. Now it looks like he is going to deport some folks.

We understand the Cleveland Indians suffered through their worst month in franchise history, going 5-24 in August.
We understand how bad they were for the entire second half of the season.
However, we cannot fathom why it makes sense to fire a manager with six games left in the season.
That’s what the Indians did Thursday, firing Manny Acta.
Guess that’s better than what the Red Sox are doing. More on that later.
Perhaps the new Indians manager, Sandy Alomar, can rally the troops to a 6-0 finish. And then they can rejoice with a 71-91 record. Because that would make such an enormous difference, right?
Then again, maybe the Indians should have announced the hiring of Bobby Valentine on Thursday.
Sure, he might still be the manager of the Red Sox. But that has not stopped the Red Sox from searching for a new manager.
Red Sox GM Ben Cherington said Thursday that he would like to spend less time on a managerial search this offseason than the team did last offseason.
Whoops. Someone forgot to the tell Cherington that the Red Sox haven’t fired Valentine just yet.
The Red Sox probably figured no reason to fire anybody with six games left in the season. No team would do that. Much better to just say the search is on for a new manager with the current manager still managing.
Oh, this is a headache.
