A homeowner bulldozing brush off Turk Road in Skamania County found human remains Sunday afternoon, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Sheriff’s deputies finished a four-day investigation and will send the remains to a forensic lab to determine the identity and sex of the person, Undersheriff Dave Cox said.
A cause of death has not been determined.
“We cannot stress enough the need to not jump to any conclusions on the identity nor the manner of death in this investigation,” Chief Criminal Deputy Pat Bond said in the release. “We still have further investigation before we can finalize this case.”
Cox said deputies expect to have more information in a week.
“Those that were involved with the examination of the brush-covered scene did a miraculous job of recovering evidence that was crucial to this case, and we are very thankful for their assistance,” he said.
Turk Road is about one mile east of the Clark County line. It intersects with Marble Road near Mount Pleasant Elementary School and state Highway 14.
