Dive crews midday Thursday responded to reports of a motorcycle submerged in the Columbia River at Marine Park.

Vancouver police were dispatched to the park at 801 S.E. Marine Park Way around 10:30 a.m., according to emergency dispatch logs.

Someone spotted a motorcycle on its side in the water near docks, said Sgt. Dennis Pritchard, with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol. No one was reported to be in the water, he said.

The motorcycle was potentially leaking oil.

Pritchard said water in the Columbia River is very low. His team on Tuesday recovered a car from the water near the docks that had been reported stolen in 2010. The car was now covered in moss and “probably has been there ever since (2010),” Pritchard said.

The motorcycle must have been recently dropped into the water, Pritchard said. His crews didn’t see it earlier in the week.
