The average price of a gallon of gas in Vancouver is $3.99, down only 2 cents from this time last week and down about 5 cents from one month ago, according to AAA Washington.

Some analysts say gas prices, which traditionally drop after Labor Day, are holding steady due to Mideast violence and the rise in crude oil prices.

In Washington, a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.02 this week, down 3 cents from a week ago and 21 cents more than the national average.

Gas prices hovered around $4 in nearby metro areas: Portland $3.94, Seattle-Bellevue $4.04, Tacoma $4.01, Olympia $4.02, Yakima $4, Bellingham $4.13, Tri-Cities $3.97, Spokane $3.90.
